Thesis: Despite its various historical allusions, the penny has devolved into a time- wasting and frustrating aspect of the monetary system, rendering it useless in the context of modern day America.
-Hatred of the penny is not limited to one socio-economic class (doc E) => abolishing the penny could be a unifying effort
-Pennies, individually, are completely worthless (doc C) and are therefore a waste of time (doc B)
-The effort put towards making pennies could be effectively redirected towards other, more useful pursuits (doc C), subsequently maximizing the productivity that is so highly valued in modern American society
Annie,
ReplyDeleteThough I have chosen to argue for the penny and you have chosen to argue against it, I like that your argument acknowledges the historical value of the penny in society. I also think tying in the unifying aspect of abolishing the penny together as a society works well with your argument because it could potentially benefit all socio-economic classes, and America as a whole.
